Hani Gooi – Studio Director
Studio director Hani Gooi ’s interest in Pilates stemmed from her desire to practise an alternative form of exercise which encompassed subtle movement with power and stamina building. After teaching Pilates freelance for several years, she was inspired to start her own studio and Pilates Central was born.
Hani began her notable career with a three year teacher’s course at the prestigious College of the Royal Academy of Dancing, London. She then worked as a ballet teacher in London, before moving to Singapore to teach. After taking a career break, she decided to take up intensive Pilates training courses at Pilates International (London), Pilates Evolution and the Balanced Body University. More recently Hani further enhanced her skills with a certification in GYROTONIC®, making Pilates Central one of the few locations in Malaysia offering specialist classes using GYROTONIC® equipment.
Lisa Lim – Certified instructor
Previously a financial analyst, Lisa has been teaching machine-based and group-mat Pilates classes since 2005. Her fascination with Pilates began in 2001 as a mat student, when she gained a level of body awareness that led her to being very conscious of the mind-body connection so central in the Pilates method. This instigated a career change and she began to teach. Lisa endeavours to guide her students towards the goal of mindful movement through the use of imagery and tactile cueing.
Her first comprehensive certifications were from Pilates Evolution and the Centre of Women’s Fitness (pre and post-natal), which are both PMA (Pilates Method Alliance) approved. Subsequently, Lisa obtained comprehensive certification from Balanced Body University and is currently undertaking studio certification with Polestar Pilates.
Andrew Ng – Certified instructor
Andrew is a certified Comprehensive Pilates Instructor of both Pilates Evolution and the Balanced Body University. Andrew started teaching Pilates in 2005 and teaches both individual clients and group mat classes.
Andrew started out as a keen personal practitioner of Pilates and discovered that continuous practice of both mat Pilates and Pilates equipment resulted in a marked improvement in his muscle endurance, flexibility, coordination and core strength. Andrew’s desire to teach Pilates stemmed from his personal enjoyment and strong belief that the Pilates system can play a huge role in achieving and maintaining a person’s health and high level of fitness.
